OOTD Dec 24/11

Hope everyone had a great Christmas! We were lucky that we did not have to travel. Lots of good times with family(hubby's side) and after Christmas will be going back home to visit my family.

We had a white Christmas and on Christmas Eve, it turned really cold. Turtleneck and cashmere cardigan time. I set up the self-timer on my camera and my dog wanted to be in be in the picture too so he sneaked in. Very usual of him. But when you tell him to look into the camera, he would usually last one picture and he loses patience and looks away.

OOTD Dec 22/11

We finally got some snow last nite. White Christmas! Yippie!!

Now it feels more like Christmas. Christmas spirit in full mode.

Candy cane turtleneck. Festive enough?

This turtleneck is from L L Bean and it's sooooooo soft. I can wear this all day long or maybe even to bed!

I don't usually wear red but for the exception of Decemebr, I try to wear it more. This Lands' End Canvas Heritage Cardigan has become my new favorite. It's cotton and very comfortable. I went a size up to medium but if I decide to get one in a different color, I would grab my usual size s. Feel like so much more extra fabric, especially on both sleeves.

OOTD Dec 21/11

Just received my order from Lands' End Canvas. Got this Poplin floral shirt(peat dot) in small but am surprised that it fits much bigger than I thought. It is pale yellow with black tiny polka dots.

I am trying on the new shirt with Abercrombie & Fitch vest (from last year). My shirt was originally priced at $ 49.50 but on sale now for $ 16.99. I managed to grab one with the special promo last week (40% off and free shipping) and got the shirt for $11.99 SHIPPED to me. What a great deal!

I'm starting to like more and more about Lands' End and Lands' End Canvas. I got a couple of cotton turtlenecks, a cardigan and this shirt. Very happy with the quality and style.

Land's End Decorative Pillow Covers (Kids' Home Section)

Few parcels arrived at my doorstep yesterday. I placed a few orders with Lands' End last week. A sale I couldn't pass. 40% off and free shipping.

I ordered 2 16" x 16" decorative  pillow covers. They are from the kids' home section. I like the pattern better than the regular home section. Even with the monogramming($6.00), I got it for $16.50 each.

They are 16" x 16" and I wish they would be just slightly bigger. Yes, I know, they are for kids and they are made smaller.  Over-all, I like them but just wish when I placed the order for the monogram online, I had the option of choosing the stitch color.  I'm ok with the J stitching but for the girl's one, my stitch is pink. Next time, if I do the monogram, I will just call in and verify the stitch color.

Received the J Crew Perfect Shirt in Tartan last week and I couldn't wait to wear it.

I have always loved plaid shirts and this is by far my favorite. One down side about this shirt is this fits tighter than what I have expected. I have read in others' blogs about the same issue. Some say it would stretch out more as you wear more. I guess I will have to wear it every day till Christmas to make it more comfortable and have more room for my holiday feasts!

I'm wearing this with Lands' End Canvas Heritage Cardigan in carnial red and jeans since I'm taking my little nephew out for lunch today.

Daily dog-walking outfit

Even though it hasn't been very cold the month, I still need to dress warm when I go out for walks with my doggie.

Love my winter jacket(Canada Goose Trillium Parka). Canada Goose is very popular among the east coast here. Yes, I know it is not the most flattening parka you can get but it is very warm. I have seen many people wearing this jacket inside the shopping malls. Don't know how they can bare that. It is so warm. I will only wear that outside when it is -10 C. I got this parka this fall. It was weird to try on thick winter jackets when it was 15 C. But last year Canada Goose jackets were pretty much sold out in November already. Rarely go on sale but I got a good deal. There are a lot of knockoffs online and are selling for a fraction of its original price but they are not authentic.

Ready or not

With no snow on the ground, it is very hard to feel Christmas is less than 2 weeks away. We usually would have a few inches of white stuff on the ground but this year strangely enough, we have none.

In the past years, when I feel like the holiday season is falling on me, I just feel overwhelmed. Just instead of dreading, I put up the Christmas tree in late November. Once I have the tree up, I feel like I am more in control and I will get things ready for Christmas.

This is what it looks like in our family room. Like the picture of my puppy? He is 3.5 years old and not a puppy anymore but he is my baby.

Bow Tee

Saw a very cute bow tee at J. Crew but unfortunately it is all sold out for now

But at second thought, this can only be worn during the holiday season....

This cute black bow tee is from ASOS

A not very subtle Chanel bow tee

Which one is your pick?

Vintage Thermal Tee Review

Just got my J. Crew vintage thermal tee in black. I got it from last week's 25% off with free shipping. It is so comfortable and not too body-hugging. I hate to wear tops which are too tight. From what it looks like on the website, material looks very stretchy and I thought I'd better size up. I usually wear a small but for tight-fitting top, I'd rather go one size up to medium.

As you can tell from the picture, I try the tee on with my Abercrombie & Fitch lounging pants. I can wear the top all day long. So comfy and cozy. I know I will wear this a lot. Debating on whether to get another color since J. Crew is having 25% off AGAIN today.

My After Christmas Wants

Am I ready for Christmas? Nope, I still have a few small gifts to get.

But I want to be prepared. During the holiday season, will be busy eating and visiting with family.

I'm all shopped out but who wouldn't want more items in her closet when a good sale is on?

I'm sure after Christmas, will be tons of promotions that I can't resist. There are items that I wouldn't get at regular prices. These are also the items that I would normally get. Theses are items I would want to add in my closet but not necessarily need to have them.

J.Crew cropped pants, $138
J.Crew tapered pants, £140
J.Crew wedge boots, $270
J.Crew small heels, £230

New Purchases from J. Crew

As mentioned in my previous blogs, I have a weakness in buying, especially buying online. It just doesn't seem REAL. When you go in retail store to buy things, I would think more before pulling my wallet out. But with online shopping, no pulling of wallets needed. The whole shopping transaction doesn't seem real until my credit card statement comes!

I love plaid shirts and I have a few in my closet. Placed an order with J. Crew earlier this week so I thought my shopping is done. But the one plaid shirt that I have been eyeing on keep going out of stock every time I place an order.

This is the Tartan shirt I like. There is a very similar version of this at J. Crew factory. I thought I would just get that one instead.

This morning before I head to work, had a few minutes to kill so I went online and there is another J. Crew promotion(25% off and free shipping with $150 order). I had the J. Crew factory look-alike shirt in my shopping cart. Then I thought I would grab the Jester turtleneck and a few other items to make up for $150.

Just when I was debating on the size on this turtleneck, I noticed the J. Crew factory plaid popover sold out on me. 2 seconds later, this sweater sold out on me too.

I was so close. But what can you do? I would just finish up getting ready for work.

Still thinking about how close I was getting my order pissed me off. Hurried up and went back online. Saw the original Tartan shirt back in stock with my size. Grabbed that. Then went back to the sweater section and this turtleneck is back. Added another tissue turtleneck and quickly checked out before everything is sold out on me.

Yes, this was all done before 7am. Before heading out the door, before my cup of coffee, money spent already.

Now, just hope I won't get that nasty email telling me that the items in my order are not in stock.

That will be my birthday present to myself. Yes, that's another buyer's justification that I have been using for the past month. I promise myself not to buy anything until the Boxing day sale.

LLBean Favs

First it was J. Crew, then I found similar items at Land's End Canvas (which by the way I love the pieces I got, will do a review in my later blogs). From Land's End, I found there are some nice pieces at LL Bean/LL Bean Signature.

I love turtlenecks ( even though hubby said I have a short neck and shouldn't wear that too much!!) Keep me warm and I always later that with 3/4 sleeve cardigan or my new fav poncho from J. Crew.

I got the turtleneck(top right)but in red/orange stripe. Waiting to get it later on today. Also waiting for hubby to make smart comment on it.

Plaids and strips

My latest " obsession" is with plaids and stripes. Looking into my closet, I have a few of these items already but still want a few more. I think these items will be classic and timeless. They will never go out of style and if I pull them out 10 years from now, can still be in style. Yes, that's how I justify in buying things.

Cashmere Boyfriend Cardigan

Not very cold yet but I have been dying to wear my cashmere cardigans. I got a J Crew boyfriend and a crewneck cardigan. Thought I would just wear my cardigan with a light top.

I love the orchid plum color(J Crew boyfriend cardigan). I paired it with a top got from Ruche. I discovered this fabulous online shop earlier this year. They have very affordable vintage-inspired outfits. Love their summer dresses ( and also very reasonable shipping fee!)

Minimalist Mockneck Sweater & Waverly Chino with flannel lining

Today is a good day. Got 3 UPS packages. The delivery guy was just here yesterday to deliver one of my three Land's End orders.

Got my J Crew order placed last week. Very excited. First time I order pants from them and was a little bit anxious about the sizing.

Waverly chino with flannel lining and minimalist mockneck sweater

I'm very pleased with the size I picked for my pants. I'm usually a size 4 or 6 but thought since it's my first time getting pants from J Crew, went with size 6. It's a little bit loose on the waist but the rest is ok. A lot of reviews said the pants are not long enough so can hardly be rolled up to show the flannel lining. But since I'm not very tall ( 5' 5.5"), I was able to roll up a little bit. Pants are not as bulky as I thought. Extremely comfortable, cozy and warm. I have a feeling I will be wearing these pants a lot.

As for the sweater, I went with a size medium as I thought I may layer up to have enough room for a shirt underneath.

I'm trying the pants on with pumps but we just got our first snowfall yesterday. So doubt if I could wear these out now. Probably will have to pair with loafers or my beloved Uggs.
