J Crew Houndstooth Sweatshirt

I love houndstooth and the pattern comes back every few years. When I saw the houndstooth sweatshirt on the J. Crew website, I knew I gotta have it.

The fact that it is sweatshirt fabric excites me more as I know I would wear it more than regular sweater. I don't read too many reviews on this one and before I knew it, it is sold out online. But I have faith that it would pop back sooner or later and I saw it one Saturday morning and I quickly grabbed it and a few other things to make it qualify for the $150 purchase to use up my 20% mail-in coupon.

Houndstooth sweatshirt in size S(here)

This one definitely fits smaller than I thought. The fabric does not stretch at all to my surprise. Also, it is a bit shorter in length. I layer it with a black Trendy Top. If you don't know what a Trendy Top is, you probably haven't watched enough TV to catch the Trendy Top infomercial. How can I describe it? It is shaped more like a tube top but worn around the waistline. For tops which are shorter in length or low-rise jeans, you don't want to expose your mid-drift (or muffin top haha), this is perfect. Of course, you can just layer the top with a tank top underneath but if you don't want to bulk up, this is the perfect solution.

I wish I had sized up on this one as I would like to layer it with a plain white/black blouse underneath sometimes. But anyhow, I like the pattern enough to wear it as is.

Are you a fan of the houndstooth pattern?

    1. think it would look very cute on you. I would just wear it with plain jeans or a solid-colored bottom so it won't be too crowded for the eyes. You should definitely get it :)

    1. I have been loving houndstooth for a long time. Like the black and white especially. I remotely recall that I have a sweater of similar pattern years and years ago. Glad the pattern is coming back :)

  10. I'm pretty sure I tried to make my own variation of the Trendy Top in high school with this stretchy white belt that I just wore up higher than my waist :p Love the houndstooth pattern, the sweater looks really versatile for fall :)
