April LuxeBox

Got my LuxeBox today. A little late this month but thought if it comes with good items, it will be worth the wait.

However, pretty disappointing.

Last week, got the first-in-line email. You can sign up for the first-in-line so they would send you an option of which products you prefer to have. Of course, no guarantee of whether you get it or not. So I signed on at the time the line opens up. Problem with the server and nobody could sign on to take their pick. I finally signed on after and picked my choice, which is the Essie nail polish. Due to website problem, not very many people could log in. So they decided to put the option on hold and advised people future email would be sent out to pick out a preferred time slot so everybody won't log in the same time and crash the website again. So I did pick my choice already, does it count?

Long story short, I had to be reassigned to a new time slot to pick my item again. But the chaotic arrangement already put bitterness in my mouth.

Last month, I did pick Cargo top coat glitter or something like that but I didn't get that. So I got an email last week saying they are sorry I wasn't sent the product so to compensate, they would include 2 more Cargo products in my April box. So I was little excited about that. Thinking they do try to make up for disappointing customers.

When I opened my box, disappointed again. No Cargo products to be found and I wasn't impressed with the items I am sent.

I did get my Essie nail polish (full size) so wasn't a total failure. But look at the products this month:

Seche ridge filling base coat
Chi silk fusion( leave-in reconstructing treatment)
Pantene Pro-V Aqua light shampoo and conditioner

Definitely not worth the subscription. Given the past  boxes, I have decided to discontinue with my subscription. Probably hopping onto another monthly subscription service. What do you guys suggest?

  1. Well, that doesn't look very "luxe" now does it? I don't know what you pay for subscription but the assortment of items you have there plus the issues selecting and receiving your preferred items would turn me off completely too.

    1. exactly, I paid $12 or $13 monthly. Not that I'm totally unhappy with what I got but just no skincare/makeup products. I heard people receive 6-7 items monthly and I only got 4 items, 2 months in a row. So feel ripped off.

  2. I was very disappointed with my box too. They should really send a different variety of products.

    1. I'm glad I'm not the only disappointing one this month. Just the lack of variety and no makeup/skincare products? That is not right.

  4. This is why I didn't subscribe to LuxeBox and went for GlossyBox instead, i've heard other people give not so great reviews and definitely doesn't seem worth the subscription cost, especially not with the problems in picking items! I've heard good things about Jolie Box and I was impressed with my first GlossyBox so maybe one of those would be better :) xx

    1. yes, think I'm going to switch to GlossyBox. Heard a lot of good reviews and hopefully I will be getting some good items.

  5. I honestly think this isn't too bad! My last 2 birchboxes haven't been this fab. Seche vite has a wonderful top coat, but what you received I am not sure if it's the same thing. I'll have to check if it's the one I bought. Essie nail polish, full size is $8 in the US so I think you did get your value! Visiting from the blog hop!

    1. Yes, I guess I shouldn't complain as I got my Essie nail polish and it will be worth my subscription fee this month. Just the fact that no makeup/skincare products kind of disappoint me as I can easily grab Essie and Pantene products everywhere.

  6. glossybox is definitely better! I would suggest topbox, get on the wait list, its about 5-6 months. glossybox is doing well for themselves so far, check out my blog reviews of it.

    1. guess I shouldn't complain as I do get my Essie nail polish as I requested. But thought I signed up for beauty box with beauty products more than nail/hair products every month.

thank you very much for the award. So sweet of you :)

    1. yes, I know, I shouldn't complain but I was expecting at least some makeup/skincare items this month. It's always a let down when you expect something and get nothing.

  10. Awwww....sorry you didn't really like your box! I'm still waiting for mine. :(

Too bad there wasn't a forum or trade system where we could post the products that we didn't like or wouldn't use for other products that people didn't like or want out of their boxes!

    1. that would be an excellent idea for trading products. I have decided to cancel my subscription to Luxe Box and go with Glossy Box, after reading so many good reviews about Glossy Box. But knowing my luck, Glossy Box next month for me won't be that impressive. Just keeping my fingers crossed.

  13. they send Pantene shampoo and conditioner! woah, I didn't expect that they would send such mainstream product. if I got the same products, I would also unsubscribe =(

    1. that's exactly why I decided to cancel my subscription. Last month, I got shampoo and conditioner products too and I wasn't impressed when I got similar items this month. When I signed up for this, I thought I would at least get some makeup/skincare products. What a let down!

  14. Ya.. have not been too thrilled with my boxes yet. I was away for the first in line program so I didn't get a chance to pick! Outta everything you got def the Essie nail polish would have been nice!

  19. I think you should give birchbox a try this month. They're boxes for this month are Gossip Girl inspired and they gave a hint of some of the companies they are using this month which his Stila and Dior. Here's the link if your interested in reserving a box http://www.birchbox.com/promotion/gossip-girl

My box is on it's way so as soon as I receive it i will post up a review on my blog ;)
