Random Purchases

There are a lot of great sales on after the holidays. It is very hard not to buy anything. But since I "kind of" put myself on a purchase ban, I am trying to limit myself on what I can buy. I said "kind of" because I'm not strict enough on myself and of course broke the ban.

Chanel Ilusion D'Ombre in shade 817 Apparence

Here is a swatch with one stripe. Love the texture as you can always build it up

I have been wanting to get a cream shadow of a light gold color. I almost bought the Maybelline eye tattoo in bold gold but that is just a bit too dark. I use this mostly as a base and love to get a neutral brownish look. I rarely spend money on high end makeup products but the Chanel Illusion D'Ombre really wowed me. Wow enough to get another one. This one is a limited edition. I believe this is for the holiday 2012 collection. It is a light golden shade. Very blendable and extremely creamy.

Sheseido facial cotton pads

My regular cotton pads are not doing what I need them to do. I hate the fact the cheaper drug store brand cotton pads easily break apart. I put on mascara daily and I usually put on the waterproof kind which needs more than a few gentle rubs to get all the mascara off. My regular kind breaks apart within 2 rubs and I always have to use 2 or even 3 cotton pads every nite to remove my makeup. Decided to give Sheseido cotton pads a try. It is more expensive than the regular drug store kind. I got this for $9 for 165 pads at my Shoppers Drug Mart. But I only need one to remove all my eye makeup.

Sugar Plum Solid Perfume from Toyko Milk by Margot Elena(buy here)

I was browsing in the boutiques on Main Street in Unionville yesterday. I love shopping at little boutiques. They carry very unique items. Either they are one of a kind handmade jewelry pieces, or they are lesser-known brands which are rarely found in bigger stores.

I came across this amazing scented solid perfume by Toyko Milk. Scent is sugar plum. Very subtle, fruity scent which I love. The packaging is very cute and they are very reasonably priced.

Also found these gorgeous dainty earrings in the same store. Baby pink clusters which make the cutest tiny earrings. Blossom Lounge is one of the stores on the Main Street, Unionville which I love. They carry a great variety of things, which include perfume, body lotion, candles, accessories and amazing clothing items. They also have a new store in the Distillery district in downtown Toronto. So if you're in the area, make sure to check it out.

  1. Don't you just love random purchases? They are fun. Did not know that drugstore cotton pads break down so easily. Need to pay attention more. The Sheseido ones look good though.

    1. random purchases are so much fun but dangerous to me. As I live in a small town and whenever I am "let free" in the city, I find so many cool things to buy. I have used the regular drug store cotton pads for years and as I wear more waterproof mascara, find it break apart within 3 swipes. The Sheseido ones are more expensive but they are much softer and a bit moisturizing, especially for eye area.

    1. I have one other Chanel eyeshadow for about 3 months now. It is definitely drier than when I first opened the package. But compared to the Maybelline eye tattoo, this stays " moist". The Maybelline ones are so dry that I can barely use now.

    1. I have one other Chanel cream shadow and have that for maybe 3 months now. It is drier than when I first opened the package. I will keep a close eye on my new one. I heard storing it tightly-closed face down may help.

    1. I have been looking for a drug store gold cream eye shadow and the closest shade I find is the Loreal infallible. I love my other Chanel cream shadow and when I see apparence in the store, the color is so pretty and subtle enough for daily use.

Thank you very much! New year new look :) So sweet of you.
