Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush Radiant Magenta Review

Hourglass has released its new ambient lighting blush. I got mine from Sephora as they are doing a special early promotion for VIB Rouge members. The blushes will be available later on in the month.

I am a big fan of their ambient lighting powder and when I found out they released their new line of blushes, I knew that I would NEED to get my hands on one (or more).

I decided on the shade Radiant Magenta which is described as golden fuchsia.

When I swatch it, it is of a much lighter fuchsia with more pink. The texture is unlike any other blush I own and it is very finely milled. If you have their ambient lighting powder, you would see the similarity. Can't say it is powdery. The texture is just very unique.

When it is swatched on my arm, it still looks quite pink with a hint of fuchsia.

It shows up on my cheeks quite differently than being swatched on my arm though. It is not powdery and it is very easy to apply. Quite pigmented but definitely buildable. It looks much more pigmented in real life than shown in the picture. It shows up much more fuchsia than pink on cheeks. What an interesting blush!

As seen in this lighting, it shows much more pigmented and you can definitely see more fuchsia than pink.

I am glad I picked this shade as I wasn't sure the lighter shades would show up well on my NC30 skin tone. If you love the Hourglass Ambient Lighting powder, I'm sure you would love this blush. It just gives you enough glow that you don't need to apply additional highlighter. The glow is very pretty. This blush is however on the pricier side(CAD $41). So I highly suggest to try it out in stores on actual cheeks before picking your shade. As it could be deceiving on whether the shade would show up well on your skin tone.

Would I re-purchase another ambient lighting blush? I really want to. The other shade I want is the Mood Exposure which is a pretty plum. I would have to wait until they are available in stores and try it out.

  1. This is stunning, I thought it would be a much brighter pink, but I actually like it x

    1. the shade is indeed stunning. The thing I like about this blush is it is so buildable. You can apply a little just to have a little glow or you can layer it and get it a pretty blush.

  2. I love the ambient lighting powders too and had no clue that they had these out now! I am a total blush addict, so this is not good. LOL.

  3. I really like how this wears on your cheeks! It looks quite intimidating in the swatch, but it blends out to be quite natural. I'm sure these blushes are going to be even more ridiculously priced here in Australia, but it's too good to avoid!

    1. there are a few lighter shades but I don't think they would show up at all on my cheeks as I see some ladies with much fair skin tone and they don't show up. I am glad I picked this one as I could layer it up to get it more intense or just apply lightly to get some natural glow. Hope this won't be crazily overpriced in Australia. I can assure you that it is worth it though :)

  4. These are soooo exciting and I definitely will be checking them out when they get released here. I'm sure it'll be expensive like Stacey pointed out but I think Hourglass is roughly the same price as UK prices when converted to Australian dollars. This shade looks really pretty on you and the fuchsia makes it something a bit different to usual pinks :)

    1. I love the Ambient powder and when I found out they have new blushes, I NEEDED to get it. This is such a pretty shade as I don't have any fuchsia blushes. When I first swatched it, I was like " this is not fuchsia at all" but then I applied it, it is. Want to get one other shade but want to swatch it in person before I decide on the shade. Hope you will get your hands on these soon.
