Lancome Teint Idole Ultra Foundation Stick Review

I am fairly new to stick foundation. My first one was MUFE HD Invisible Cover Stick Foundation which quickly became my holy grail foundation(see my post for a full review).

When I was lucky enough to be sent Lancome Teint Idole Ultra Foundation Stick*, I was excited to try and see how it compares to my holy grail.

Lancome Teint Idole Ultra Makeup Stick

Shade 210 (Buff)

I was sent the shade 210(Buff) as highlight. It is probably two shades lighter than my regular shade. But since I didn't tan much this summer, it is not as light as I thought. I decided to try it to apply all over as a foundation in order to test out this product fully.

This is my first Lancome foundation. I have read a lot of great reviews about their Teint Idole Ultra liquid foundation. It is CAD $50 for 0.31 oz.

L: Lancome 210 Buff
R: MUFE Y365

210 Buff is a light beige with neutral undertone. Compared to the MUFE Y365, it is probably 2 shades lighter.

Lancome Teint Idole Ultra Foundation Stick claims to be for all skin types, has SPF 21 and contains porous polymers that absorbs excess acne-producing oils. With that said, I think it is more suitable for oily combo to oily skin.

I have learnt with foundation stick, you don't need much product for your entire face. How I apply is to apply the foundation in wide stripes on my face directly from the foundation stick. Then I use my Sigma F80 flat top kabuki brush to blend it out. This foundation has a silky texture and is a breeze to blend out. It gives medium coverage with a satin finish. I like the coverage and my skin still peeks through to make it skin-like and not cakey.

I have a few blemishes and find this foundation would cling to dry patches. So if you have very dry skin, this may not be for you or maybe you can apply a good layer of moisturizer before applying this foundation. What I like most about this foundation is I don't need to set it with setting powder as my skin does not turn into a grease ball by mid-day. It would be perfect for summer. These days, I tend to have a luminous finish so I would apply extra highlighter to give my skin more life.

Compared to MUFE HD Invisible foundation stick, the Lancome Teint Idole Ultra foundation stick is drier. When applied, it is not as tacky as the MUFE. Definitely more suitable for oily skin. MUFE is CAD $50 for 1 oz while Lancome is CAD $52 for only 0.3 oz. Even though the packaging is very similar, Lancome has a lot less product for the same price. Lasting power for both is similar. So it all depends on the finish you prefer. If you like a more matte, satin finish, definitely go for Lancome. But if you like a luminous finish, MUFE is your best bet.

Do you prefer foundation stick to liquid foundation? I am loving the foundation stick as I find for a quick, no fuss application, foundation stick is definitely the one.
