J. Crew Favs & Recent buys

Got my J. Crew Feb catalog in the mail yesterday. I like it so much better than last month's. So many items that I put on my wish list. Unfortunately, they haven't been having any promotion or decent sale on spring items yet so I will have to test my patience out a little bit longer.

Here are some of my favorite items:

yes, another polka dot top that I NEED to have

another Perfect Shirt in Mini Gingham that I NEED

even though I am not big on floral shirts, this one catches my eye

I know, they probably have this out for Valentine's Day but I think the hearts are subtle enough that can be worn a lot more

Pleated Jardin Skirt in Heart Throb is equally cute. But debating on whether I will get this as well as I doubt if I will wear them together as styled in the catalog

I like the simple design of this tote. But would like to see this in person to see how the quality of the bag first

So meanwhile I'm waiting for J. Crew's promo, have bought a few things:

Even though most southern Ontario is enjoying a mild winter, it is still pretty cold here. We just got a few dumps of snow over the last week (yes, of course, snow storms will only come when hubby is away, leaving me to clear the driveway with the ever-so-heavy snowblower!!), I desperately need another beanie to keep warm when I'm out walking my dog. It is very challenging to find a beanie that would fit my big head. Hunting high and low and I finally found one.

What is this?
That is exactly what I said to myself when I saw that. This is the Lioele Fringe Bow It is for clipping your bangs up when you are doing makeup so your hair won't get in the way. It would not crease your hair( as it claims but I haven't received it yet so have to review it later)

For those of you who are not familiar with BB cream, it stands for blemish balm. It was invented by Germans for burnt victims and other patients who have severe skin abnormalities. The Koreans have made improvements on that and are very popular among asians, making skin flawless. I have been using another brand, Missha and very happy about the result. I don't wear a lot of makeup but just need a little to make my skin brighten up a little. I don't wear foundation and I find the BB cream a perfect solution for me. Just a few dabs of the cream even out my skin tone and cover blemishes and dark eye circles. I have decided to try this brand as I have heard very good reviews about it especially for oily skin.

  1. Nice J. Crew picks! Now, if only they would do a % off promo!

I have been hearing so much about blemish balms - what exactly are they? Is it a multipurpose product, i.e. moisturizer, foundation and anti-ageing, all in one? Do you know what the ingredients are? I am really curious about it! Also curious about your fringe bow - it is difficult to tell from the photo how it is supposed to work.

    1. yes, exactly exactly. I really love the heart throb shirt and I know by the time any promo comes on, it will be out of stock. Contemplating on whether I should just bite the bullet and get it now.

The BB cream is like a tinted moisturizer/foundation/sunscreen/anti-aging all in one. For people like me(lazy bum), these are great as I just need to put on a few dots of cream and go out run errands. I searched and found ingredients of it:

Not exactly what they are but one thing I know is it's not a skin care product and you DO need to wash everything off at the end of the day.

The fringe bow works like a velcro hair clip(I just placed an order and I have yet to find out how exactly it works)Here is some pictures on the product website:

    1. Just when I want to bite the bullet and get that polka dot blouse, can't find it online today. Guess not meant to be.

I am excited to get this new BB cream. I am very happy about Missha but wouldn't mind trying on another brand to see the difference.

    1. yes yes yes, exactly. As I don't think I would want to pay the price for a Celine, I thought it's a compromising substitute.

    1. me too, I'm obsessed with polka dots. But only tiny dots. For my age, think big dots are too " cute-sy" on me.

I'm already following you. Great blog!

    1. Yes, meanwhile we are all waiting for a promo code, the heart throb shirt is sold out. I have faith that it will pop back but knowing my luck, they won't be in stock when there is a sale on.

  8. I have been eyeing that tote since I saw it on the catalog. I finally pulled the trigger and ordered one today since it's a catalog and online item only so there is no chance I can see one in person unless I order. Hope it lives up to JCrew standard.

    1. Can't wait to read your review about the Tillary bag. I didn't know the bag is only available online. What color did you get?

  9. Have you tried any of the "mainstream" cosmetics brands' BB Creams yet? I bought a tube of Bobbi Brown when I was in Hong Kong and love it. I'm going to try Marcelle and Estee Lauder next. I hear that Stila is coming out with a version too.

    1. No, haven't tried the North American versions of BB cream yet. But got a Garnier sample on its way. Read on Maclean magazine that the N. American versions don't have the whitening effect as the Korean brands. There are so many brands coming out with their versions. Good to know you have tried the Bobbi Brown and love it. Does it come in different shades? One thing I don't like the Korean brands are mostly are just one shade fits all.
