OOTD Jan 26 12

Got my Banana Republic Polka Dot Pencil Skirt. I took a chance of ordering a petite(even though I'm almost 5'6") since the skirt was sold out in regular sizes.

Tried it on today and besides it is a little shorter, I cannot see much of a difference.

The skirt is a size 6.

I am wearing this with Lands' End Button Side Crewneck. The color I have on is purple orchard heather but I believe the color is sold out.

This crewneck is in size S. Material is just like a casual sweatshirt but with the side buttons added, I think you can easily dress this up.

Looking back at these pictures make me wonder if this skirt is a little too short. Supposed to be a pencil skirt but it now look more like a mini skirt.  Debating on whether I am going to return it....... What do you think?

So happy to receive my J. Crew boardwalk stripe zipper tee. It was sold out for a while and it popped back up one Saturday morning and I grabbed it.

Love the color and the stripes. I ordered a small and it fits perfect. I was worried that it may fit small but it fits true to the size so I can still wear a shirt underneath for layering.

My dog wouldn't leave me alone for these pictures. He is one funny dog.

Splurge (part 2)

I made a wish list after Christmas. One of them is:

I don't usually like bright, bold, statement necklace but this particular one caught my eye when I first saw it in the catalog:

But I just can't justify paying $174 for this, even though it's absolutely gorgeous.

So, what did I do? Yes, went to Ebay and found some look-alike which is only a fraction of the original version.

This is my version. This is so much heavier than I thought.

Wore it today with J. Crew tartan shirt.

The quality of the necklace is better than I thought and I am considering getting it in another color.

While I was at Lands' End, got this for Mom:

I got a similar style for her earlier. It's a half zip-up and the quality is so nice and soft. It may look thin but it is very warm. On sale now for $24.99.

Got this for Dad before and he loves it. So got him another one in expedition green. Also $24.99.

I got this one before Christmas in purple and I love it so much that I have to get one in another color. I got a purple before and this time in dark mahogany. Great layering and surprisingly warm. With cold weather, it is excellent to wear this with a winter jacket to walk the dog. And the best part of this is the price: $14.99.

Splurge

Ok, I admit, I went a little crazy for the past 10 days. Buying things impulsively online. There are only a few items that were originally on my wish list but I went overboard.

I don't usually buy a lot of makeup, especially eye shadow as I wear very little. But heard a lot of good reviews of the Urban Decay Naked Palette. My little niece (well, she is not little but to me, she will forever be little)got the original one and loves it. They introduced the Urban Decay Naked Palette 2 a couple of months ago and are doing extremely well, meaning sold out online. Not sure if that is their marketing strategy or not. But if they know they are selling well, wouldn't they manufacture more? Anyway, I like their more neutral earth-tone color and decide to give it a try. Haven't received it yet but can't wait to try.

Have been eyeing on Banana Republic Polka Dot Pencil Skirt for probably 2 weeks now. I rarely buy things  at full retail price so I decided to wait. But with the promos lately, they are sold out. Emailed Banana Republic Canada to see if they would restock that and they replied their system cannot locate the skirt and tell me to contact the retail stores myself. Oh, well, the closest one to me is still 1.5 hours drive for me and I have no intention of doing that. I guess I can't expect all the retail stores have the same excellent customer service as J. Crew, right?

So next web site I went to is the Banana Republic US website. They had it in stock but do I want to pay an extra $30 for duty? Plus, it would be so costly to ship it back if I decide not to keep it.

Went back to the Canadian website and of course, the regular sizes are all gone but they still have plenty with the petite department. No, I'm not petite. I'm almost 5'6" and I have not purchased anything petite. I would assume it would be a little shorter in length. At least I purchased it here and if it doesn't fit the way I want to, would return it.

Next went to Land's End Canvas. I was browsing at Land's End for a few fleece tops for my parents and myself. I got them a few fleece tops earlier and they love them. So warm and cozy. So while I was there, went to Land's End Canvas and got Lands' End Canvas Button Side Crewneck in Purple Orchard. Such a good deal ($14.99), just can't pass it up.

Other items (shameful to say, I bought so much that I cannot remember exactly what I bought!!??) are just basic necessary items that I buy regularly online, which include Urban Decay Complexion Primer Potion and Sunbreeze Essential Oil. The essential oil contains oils from flowers and herbs, also some menthol. It is all natural and it is good for stubborn headaches. Just rub it a little on your temple and no kidding, headache will  disappear. Also good for sore muscles but there is a certain scent that some people may find it strong.

to be continued...........

OOTD Jan 20/12

Haven't shopped online much since Christmas and I feel very good about it. But after Christmas, I went home to Toronto and bought quite a bit. Not all of them are clothing items, some of them are household items (which make me feel less guilty).

Came home to reality last week and all of a sudden things are back to normal. Need just a little bit of adjustment and I made small purchases online. Most of them are too good of a deal to pass.

I bought a few items off Talbots online and was so excited about a scoopneck sweater but ended up being out of stock and what a bummer. So I went back to Land's End Canvas and got the cable knit crewneck sweater. This one is on sale from $59.99 to $18.99. Just can't believe how good the quality is when I opened the package.

I got it in small since the last cardigan I got from them, I got a medium and I am swimming in it. Color is lavender berry. Love love love this color. The sleeves are 3/4 and the material is really soft. Not too snug and clingy to the body which I find a lot of sweaters of this style are.

I wear the sweater with a purple Armani Exchange shirt I had from years back. Funny that I haven't worn the shirt for so long and has hit the " going to be donated" pile at the back of the closet. But somehow, it made its way back to being hung and worn quite a bit with my purple obsession this winter.

The scarf is a Christmas gift and I'm not sure what brand it is but I love the navy/lavender combination. Perfect for this sweater.

New Wish List

New Wish List
Why did I have a new wish list? Was shopping first time online at Talbots on the weekend and was sooooooooooooo excited about the 40% off everything sale. Grabbed a couple of things and thought I had scored big time. Checked my email this morning and got a notification from Talbots saying one of the items I bought was not available. I hate that. It's just like bringing a hard-to-find item to the cashier in the store and was told " sorry, this was put on hold for somebody and was mistakenly taken onto the floor". What a bummer!!! So here it is, my new list and will wait for any decent promo( I don't buy things at full retail price!!) and I will grab a few things to compensate for my Talbots loss.

Just bought

Just bought

Have been obsessing with purple outfits lately. Grabbed the boardwalk stripe tee from J. Crew yesterday. Just love the stripes and color. It's final sale so just hope it will fit well.

Bought the Marc by Marc Jacobs puffy bag from Holt Renfrew when I was in Toronto. Just love his bags and affordability. The bag is so light and what a change from my other heavy leather bags.

When I was surfing online mindlessly this morning(yes, lazy Sunday morning, nothing better to do), stumbled upon Talbots website. Have never bought from them before but they are having an excellent sale on. But thought I'd just read some more reviews before placing my order. A few mins later, went to visit one of my favorite blogs: ExtraPetite and she was posting about the sale and a promo code, see post here. Everything is 40% off, including regular, sale and outlet prices. Use code 019588431 at checkout. Not sure when this code expires. So if you're interested, use the code soon. Have fun!
***updated Jan 16/12 @2:05pm, I just tried the code and it has expired. It was working this morning but I thought I would place the order after lunch, oh well, next time ***

For those who love J. Crew Tartan shirt

For those who love the J. Crew tartan shirt ( yes, I became one of those just before the holidays) and just love the red and black plaid pattern. Some bloggers thought they would wear as much as possible during the holiday season. I love this shirt so much that I have no intention to stop wearing it.

Just came across this gorgeous plaid jacket at LL Bean Signature Merrimac Jacket. Isn't this cute?

OOTD Jan 7/12

Going to Sherway Gardens(shopping mall) today and don't intend to to put on a winter coat inside the mall, sweating to death. But all depends on where we park and I don't want to freeze my butt off in the parking lot. Time to put on the boyfriend cashmere cardigan. Light and easy to wear but also warm and cozy. Wore it with my new purple perfect shirt in gingham. Can't believe how silky and soft this shirt is. I would have grabbed it in another color but none was spotted in the clearance section.
