Splurge

Have been eyeing on some high end makeup products for a while. I am usually a drug-store makeup kind of gal but once in a blue moon, I would splurge on a few items.

Clinique bottom lash mascara long wearing formula
YSL Rouge Volipte Shine in 9 Nude in Private
Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua in 40 Beige

I got these items at Shoppers Drug Mart. This week is the 20x Optimum points event when you spend $75 on cosmetics. I was going to get my usual basics. But when I went to the one at Bayview Village, I was pleasantly surprised that they carry all the high end brands, including Chanel, YSL, Origins etc.

I have been wanting to try the Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua foundation for the longest time. With the warm weather, I am desperately looking for a lightweight foundation. Of all the great reviews I read about this, decided to bite the bullet and try it.

I got the shade in 40 Beige. It is a foundation which is very liquid-y. When I swatch it on my hand, it barely feels like I rub anything into my skin. It blends extremely easy and the coverage is light. It really feels like you have not put on anything but yet your skin looks so much nicer.

It is quite hard to see it on my hand as it blends in beautifully. This is my first day wearing it so will have to put this to a test and see how it works with my oily combination skin. But so far, I'm loving it. Even though the coverage is light, my skin looks much better in a way that you can still see my skin but the texture is much smoother and even.

Next is the new Clinique bottom lash mascara. When I apply mascara, I don't apply to my bottom lashes. With the few mascaras I have tried, they tend to rub off so easy and make raccoon eyes on me within minutes after application. So I never bother.

I got it in black. This has the tiniest little brush which I find extremely easy to apply to my bottom lashes. I just applied this morning and has been an hour and it hasn't smudged a single bit or flaked off. Impressive.

This lipstick is totally a splurge. It may be the most expensive lipstick I bought so far.

I wasn't looking at YSL lipsticks. I was just browsing and the cute packaging caught my eye. After I swatched a few, I knew I gotta have it.

Isn't this cute enough to die for?

I picked the Rouge Volupte Shine as I love how moisturizing it is and yet still you a beautiful glossy shine effect. There are a few other colors that I love also. But at $39 a piece, I am using all the will-power I have not to grab another one. Oh well, at least for now :)

The shade I picked is my usual nude mauve pink. It slides on so beautifully. Honestly, I can see this is by far my favorite lip.

    1. I have tried it out 2 days in a row and I just love the little brush and it really does stay on and doesn't smudge at all. Making life much easier when you don't have to wipe off the smudges every 2 minutes. Highly recommend it!

    1. I have never tried a foundation which is of that texture. When you pour a bit out, it is so liquidy that you thought it wouldn't have any coverage. But surprisingly, it does and looks so natural on my skin. In love with this!

    1. I am totally in love with the Vitalumiere aqua. When I read all the raves about this foundation, I was tempted to try but have doubts of how nice it would be with such a watery texture. After trying it for a couple of days, I know how great this foundation it is. Perfect for summer because it doesn't grease me out and totally look like skin and not cakey

Thanks for visiting, following back :)

  6. A tip when applying normal mascara to your bottom lashes, run a damp finger along them once you've applied it. It gets rid of the excess so it won't give you raccoon eyes after a few hours. :)
