Shopping My Stash

Whenever I have the urge to shop for new makeup, I make myself go into my stash and see if I have anything similar. Sometimes you impulse buy so much, a lot of products get pushed to the side and get ignored.

IOPE Air Cushion XP - in the summer time, it is always a plus to have product which has SPF. I have this for a while and forgot how much I love this. It gives enough coverage and a beautiful dewy finish.

Balm Lou-Manizer - I was shopping at the Charlotte Tilbury website lusting for their bronze and glow. Then I went to my stash and see if I have anything remotely similar. I totally forgot about this drug-store highlighter. I haven't used this for a long time and surprised myself of how great this is.

L'oreal Color Caress Wet Shine Stain in Infinite Fuchsia - I have this for a couple of years and I remember I got it because it is said to be a good dupe of the YSL one. I was intimidated by the bright fuchsia shade before and ignore this for a while. Now I find a new way to wear it. As I like the Korean gradient lip trend, I like to "nude" my lip with Bite High Pigment Pencil in Madeira and then apply this lip stain in the middle of my lips.

NARS Larger than Life Eye Pencil - I got this together with 2 NARS lip pencils in my Sephora VIB Rouge birthday gift. As I am wearing very minimal makeup in the summer days, I like to tight line my eyes to give a more subtle and natural look. I am loving how this pencil applies and doesn't irritate my eyes at all.

Do you shop your stash regularly to avoid going out buy more?

  1. This is a great idea to control spending! Lately I've been so controlled, I haven't bought a new item since.. January! *pat on my shoulder!* haha I have been just trying to finish my foundation and bb items and whatever i already own!

    1. wow you did really good. Big pat on your shoulder!! I used to just go out and buy whatever is new and later find out those are the ones which get pushed to the back of my drawers the most. Now, whenever I want to buy something, I go to my stash and see if I have something remotely similar first before considering.

  2. This is a great idea to help control spending! I need to start shopping my stash as well. I tend to forget I buy certain things, then when I go through my makeup, I get all excited to find something "new" lol

    1. I wanted to get the Charlotte Tilbury bronze and glow and if it was me a year ago, I would just go place the order. But I realize how many highlighters one person actually needs and uses up. I went to my stash and found the Lou-manizer and from what I see the swatches online, they look kind of similar. So I am good for now until my next obsession swings by :)

  3. This definitely helps! I think we all have to remind ourselves like this, but the problem is that all the new releases make us feel that we've never had them before.
I've just started using the air cushion xp myself and I'm really loving it! :)

    1. yes, all the new products are just soooo tempting. But after I went through my "purge" pile, I realized how much $$ I have wasted over the years. Isn't the air cushion xp lovely? I think they have new matte version. But for now, I am happy with what I have and let's hope my skin won't get too oily this summer and I don't have to spend any more $ :)

  4. I only have two neutral shades but I LOVE the L'Oreal stains. I have wanted theBalm highlighter forever but I recently picked up the new Becca so I definitely can't justify it any time soon! :) shopping your stash is so much fun and a great way to curb that shopping urge.

    1. shopping your own stash is a lot of fun actually. You forget how much stuff you have collected over the years and completely forgot.

  5. This is good reminder! I often get "wow'ed" by new releases when really they are very similar to what's already out there. My IOPE got put aside too, but unfortunately I got tanned this summer and the shade is no longer appropriate, so I will have to wait until winter to use it again.

    1. I just wish IOPE has more shade selections. I think they came up with a slightly darker shade since I got mine. They also have a new matte version now. I will commit to use up this one before I think of getting another one :)

  6. Great idea to save some money and keep the collection sane haha. I've been keeping some of my makeup in closed boxes so it's always fun to peek in and "remember" again what I have!
