How to revive your dried-up gel eyeliner

I have this Bobbi Brown gel eyeliner for a few months. It is actually my second jar. I love it because it is easy to apply and when I apply eyelid primer, it does not smudge.

I discarded my first jar because it dried up. Only half-used. What a waste. The Bobbi Brown gel eyeliner is on the pricey side too so when I got my second jar, I swore to myself that I would keep the container tightly-closed so it would not dry out.

What happened? Yes, after only a few months, the edge of the eyeliner is all dried up. I was going to order another one when I found this youtube video, I jumped for joy.

What you need is some glycerin(which you can easily find it at drug store, I found mine at the first-aid aisle), Smashbox foundation primer( a clear face primer which contains silicone).

If you watch the video, it is very well-explained(you may find it a little bit long at the beginning) and I followed all the steps and it works. My gel eyeliner is revived. Save me from buying another one.

There are other videos on youtube of how to revive gel eyeliner too but I find it this one makes more sense. Basically, I am just adding more hydrating ingredients to the gel eyeliner to revive it. Other videos I watch mostly just require the whole gel eyeliner jar to be submerged in warm-to-hot water to loosen up the gel, which I don't think work last too long as  it would just be a temporary solution, as opposed to this one. So if you have a dried-up gel eyeliner ready, try this and you can save yourself some money. Good luck!

i don't have a dried-up jar, yet. i'd try it for myself when that happens.
interesting thing is that someone told me dried-up gel liner actually stays on lower waterlines. i think i am kinda looking forward to that so i can try both. lol

    1. Come to think of you, it's true. When the gel is dried up, it stays better on lower waterlines. Now the gel is revived, I need to make sure I put on eyeshadow primer to keep them stay put.

    1. Glad you find the video helpful. I was bummed that not even 1/4 of my Bobbi Brown gel eyeliner was used and it was dried up already. Can't justify on getting another one. Now, the gel eyeliner is revived and good as new.

      Thanks for stopping by!

    1. From now on, I will try to keep the lid on the jar tight and see if it slows down the drying up process. But it does work. If yours start to dry up, try this method.

    1. Yeah, I wonder if there are ways to revive concealer. I'm using Benefit Boiling concealer and it hasn't dried up yet(maybe I use it up so fast trying to hide my dark undereye circles!!).
