Maybelline Falsies Big Eye vs Falsies Flared Mascara

Maybelline has a new mascara launched. I am very excited about this as my current favorite mascara is their Volum' Express Falsies Flared in waterproof and anxious to find out if the new one is as good.

Maybelline Volum' Express Flasies Big Eyes Mascara in very black(waterproof version)

Got mine from Walmart for $8.96

This one is unique as it has two brushes. One for the upper lashes and one for the lower lashes. This one is for upper lashes. The wand is a regular straight wand, unlike the Falsies Flared which has a curved wand, making application a breeze.

This one is for lower lashes. It is a much thinner and smaller brush.

I don't have long lashes and mine is straight and hard to curl. I only use waterproof mascara to hold my curls. Also, my lower lashes are very sparse and short. With regular brushes, I always have problem applying mascara on my lower lashes without smudging.

This is with one coat as I prefer with all the mascara applications. I find the formula quite dry even when it is a brand new tube. Usually I like my mascara much better after 2 weeks and drying out for a bit. The application is easy with my upper lashes but with my lower lashes, it still is a challenge. It doesn't clump and gives a very natural look. It does not hold my curls as well as my Falsies Flared mascara though.

Maybeline Falsies Big Eye
Pros:
  • 2 in 1 to do both upper and lower lashes
  • dryer formula
  • no clumps
Cons:
  • does not hold my curls
  • upper lash brush is not curved for easy and even application
  • does not give a dramatic effect on lashes
  • smudges a little on the lower lashes

Clinique Bottom Lash Mascara(lower lashes)

Maybelline Falsies Flared formula is more wet than the Falsies Big Eye. I have both in waterproof version. I find the application of the Falsies Flared much easier with a curved wand. I can get into the bottom of the lashes much easier with the curved wand. It also gives my lashes a much uplift effect. My curls also last throughout the day with this formula.

Maybelline Falsies Flared
Pros:
  • curved wand for easy application
  • holds curl well
  • give lashes a more defined and uplift look
Cons:
  • clumps if do more than 1 coat
So overall, Maybelline Falsies Flared remains my favorite mascara. But if holding curls is not an issue for your lashes, I highly recommend the Maybelline Falsies Big Eye to try.

    1. It has a drier formula which I prefer but surprisingly it doesn't hold my curls up as well as my Falsies. But overall it is still a very good drug store mascara compared to a lot of high end brands I have tried.

    1. it has a drier formula which I am not sure if it's because of the waterproof formula. If it can hold up my curls longer, definitely will be my new favorite mascara.

  3. I was going to grab this mascara this past weekend but it was the only Maybelline mascara not on sale. I too am really liking the Falsies as well. Maybe I will grab it at Walmart.

  4. It's interesting that it comes with two wands, especially as they seem to be designed for different functions. I do like Maybelline mascaras in general (my favourite is Define-A-Lash but I also liked Full n Soft) - the one I really want to try from them is The Falsies though :)

    1. Falsies is still by far my absolute favorite so far. It holds up my curls all day long without smudging.

    1. I have very sparse and short lower lashes and with regular mascara brushes, it is just impossible to apply without smudging all over.
