Review Moroccan argan oil vs Moroccan oil

I style my hair almost on a daily basis. Yes, I know it is so unhealthy. I started to wash my hair every other day now instead of daily. It is sometimes hard in the summer but thanks to Batiste dry shampoo, I am managing.

Got the Moroccan oil hair treatment in my beauty box(won from a blogger's giveaway here). Ever since, I have been applying the oil treatment after each wash on damp hair.

Really see a significant difference in the overall improvement of my hair texture. Before using the treatment, my hair(especially the ends) is so dry and damaged. I always joke about feeling my hair as the dry grass on the lawn this summer. After using it for a few times, I notice my hair become significantly softer and has more shine.

The Moroccan oil I received is a sample size (25ml). You can tell from the bottle that after 2 months' use, I only use 1/4 bottle. You really only need a few drops of the oil to apply to the ends of the hair.

As much as I love the Moroccan oil, there is one thing that I'm not too crazy about. The price. It is quite expensive. I went to Trade Secrets and check out the bigger bottle with a pump, it is $40. Also the scent of the oil needs some getting used to . It is quite perfum-y. If you are sensitive to scent, you may not like this oil.

Since I still have quite a bit to go before I need to go get another bottle, I started to look for alternatives.

I got the renewing Moroccan argan oil a couple of weeks to try. Unlike the Moroccan oil, which is only sold in hair salons and other hair supply specialty stores, this one is easily available in drug stores across Canada. I got mine at Shoppers Drug Mart. It was on sale for $8.99(100ml).

Not only the price is more appealing, the renewing Moroccan argan oil does not have a strong scent. The texture, however, is much thinner than the Moroccan oil. So instead of applying a few drops, I need much more to cover the ends of my hair.

I also switched my shampoo to the nreweing Moroccan argan oil shampoo and conditioning. They were also on sale a few weeks ago at Shoppers Drug Mart for $6.99 each. By using all 3 new hair products for 2 weeks, the overall texture of my hair is improved. However, the improvement is not as significant as by just using the Moroccan oil.

So, my verdict is get the Moroccan oil if you can. Yes, it is pricey but it is worth it. I may want to try the Moroccan oil shampoo and conditioner together with the oil treatment. But heard both have the same scent as the oil. Will have to check it out next time I'm in the city.

    1. my hair was really dry and frizzy, not pleasant to run my fingers through it at all. Now it's much softer and more shine to it. Give this a try!

    1. I'm trying to limit my styling every other day now. I have frizzy hair too so if I don't blow dry it, it will be so curly and frizzy.

  6. I love moroccan oil! Have you tried Macademia Oil? It works just as well and has a similar price point, but the scent is a lot nicer!

    1. Oh thanks so much for mentioning Macademia oil. I have heard of it but if the scent is a little " nicer" than Morocco oil, I'm willing to give it a try.
